Genetic monitoring

Genetic monitoring of brown bears in Greece takes advantage of the peculiar behaviour of brown bears to mark and rub on poles of the electricity network (Gallery).

This behaviour has enabled us to establish monitoring programs in various areas of Greece.

According to our most recent monitoring efforts, brown bears in Greece are experiencing a genetic recovery.
