Wolf monitoring

The wolf (Canis lupus) is one of the most charismatic terrestrial mammals of Greece. Its conservation is difficult, mainly because of its negative interactions with humans (i.e., livestock depredation).

In order to protect the wolf in Greece the Hellenic Bear Register studies the activity patterns and the genetic status of the species.

We study the activity patterns of wolves in Greece through satellite telemetry. You can find more information on the movement patterns of wolves in Greece here.

You can find more information on the genetic monitoring of wolves in Greece here, and in Europe here.
